Is your Office a Clean Office?

If you’re new in the universe of managing offices, there’s something you might not know yet because it’s implicit: cleanliness is the key to success.

Having a clean office actually helps workers to be more efficient in their jobs. At the same time, it’s an amazingly important aspect if you own areas that are open to the public. You wouldn’t want customers to sit on dirty chairs, or to see dusty desks, would you?

Besides, because offices host a lot of people, they can quickly become nests for microbes and bacteria. People not only touch things – they can sneeze or cough on them as well.

Therefore, making sure your office is clean is essential when owning a business.

I think my cleaning company doesn’t get the job done… but how can I tell?

Noticing that some surface or part of your office is dirty is a pretty straightforward process. If you see that everything isn’t spotless, then it means that your cleaning company is not doing the job correctly. However, there are other indicators that might point you in the right direction:

  1. They are always rushing when they’re cleaning: although cleaning can be a simple process, it must not be done in a rush. If the cleaning people are always trying to finish everything faster, that’s a fair enough reason to distrust the results.
  2. They don’t have the proper cleaning supplies: what if the cleaning lady only has a rag that looks dirtier than the desk themselves? That’s not very hygienic. Every professional cleaning person must have their proper supplies so they can do the job correctly.
  3. You find dirty areas even when the cleaning is done: maybe you were casually going through the office, and you found a dusty corner or a dirty floor. That’s an indicator that shows that cleaning was not done the way it should.
  4. Wait… there’s something missing: although some office people are pen thieves (no harm there), if you are continually missing things right after the cleaning crew took off, this is not a good sign. If this happens, the best thing to do is to find another cleaning company.

The DVD Approach

We talked about some indicators that show when an office is not clean; now, let’s talk about the right approach for cleaning: the DVD.

  1. Disinfect: some surfaces need this kind of treatment because, as we said, they are constantly handled by people. Keyboards, desks, and mouses are examples of this.
  2. Vacuum: this applies to all the floors. It will clean away the dust and leave a beautiful, finished look.
  3. Dust: an excellent option for desks. After removing all of the items, using the proper fiber cloth helps to wipe down the surfaces. Don’t forget the small corners!

A clean office is the birthplace of an enjoyable work environment that helps workers achieve their functions efficiently. On the other hand, a dirty and dusty workplace is detrimental for the organizational processes and represents health hazards because it can be a nest for microbes and bacteria, so make sure your office is a clean one!
